Learn How a Trial Separation Can Make or Break Your Marriage

By Sarah Scott

Trial relationship separation permits everybody to evaluate their life and where their partner fits in. It also gives them the breathing room to contemplate where their relationship went wrong and what they can do to mend it. Many couples date each other during their trial separation in the hope of reviving the spark in their relationship and saving the marriage.

There's a wrong way and right way to making a relationship work with a trial marriage separation.

The most vital thing when it comes to a trial separation is that you and your partner are always talking with one another. A trial marriage separation is not a "get out of marriage" card. You and your other half need to continually work as a couple to ensure you each are taking the necessary steps to working out your relationship.

It's particularly vital you and your spouse sets up a time to meet every other week or so to catch up on things. Many couples decide to see a marriage specialist at this time and (statistically) it noticeably increase the odds of making their relationship work.

Date Nights

Try to set up nights when you both can take time and go out on dates together. This is going to help you get out of that mold you guys put yourself during the past couple of years and begin seeing each other with a pair of fresh eyes. You can deal with the issue of what happened in your marriage and work out what you as a couple can do from there to be certain it does not occur again. Don't use date nights as a night to forget your issues. Address your troubles if the issue comes up. Don't forget when you date each other, relax, be aware and entirely enjoy your time with your spouse.

Set Up Boundaries

Before you and your other half separate, make sure it's obvious for both parties involved on what the limits are. This means are you and your spouse date people while separated? Are you and your spouse be physically intimate together while separated?

If you wish to have a trial marriage separation to make you marriage work, remember that commitment is key. If you are committed to making your relationship work, you'll do everything you can for the general well-being of your relationship. If it get's to the point of where a trial marriage separation is what is required to bring you guys closer together, then so be it. A trial marriage separation can break or make your relationship. With commitment and clear communication, a trial marriage separation may be just what you and your partner needs.
